Three rooms, three rates

Western Room, main deck

A double bed, a balcony, sea-view windows and a bathtub. It sleeps two, and a third guest can have an extra bed on request. This is the room that passes the bathtub test: if you want a soak with the window open, you've found it. Motion is moderate. IDR 8,500,000 (≈ USD 521) per person.

Japanese Room, upper deck

A double bed, big ocean-view windows, a balcony and a low tatami table, where you sit on the floor to eat or play cards. There's room for a third guest on an extra bed. Of the three rooms it rolls the most, and it's also the quietest. IDR 8,500,000 (≈ USD 521) per person.

Balinese Room, lower deck

A double and a single bed, Bali-villa styling and portholes instead of windows. There's no balcony. It moves the least, but it's close to the engine, so it's also the noisiest. With the extra bed it sleeps up to four, and at IDR 6,950,000 (≈ USD 426) per person it's the cheapest berth on the boat.

A word on the balconies in the Japanese and Western rooms: each is a narrow strip of side deck with a bench, not a terrace. We mention it because the photos can mislead.

The engine runs quiet, which matters if you are travelling with a baby or simply want silence: at anchor the boat is still, and under way the lower deck hears the most. Ask the desk for an upper-deck cabin if silence decides it.

The rate table, extra beds and travelling alone

Open-trip prices are per person, based on two sharing a room. The table below lists each room with its extra-bed rate, and an extra bed costs less than a full place in the cabin.

One gap we should flag before the deposit: the rate sheet doesn't print a single-occupancy supplement. We don't know whether one person in a double pays for the whole room or for a single place, and we're not going to guess here. If you're travelling alone, ask the desk what the room will cost you and get the answer in writing.

Children under 3 travel free with a parent or guardian; from 3 they pay the full rate. VAT at 11 percent is included. Rates were last updated 4 April 2026, and the table carries the same date so you can see how fresh the figures are.

Fixed dates, shared decks

Open trips depart on Monday & Friday, and every one is a 3D2N. There are 122 start dates on the calendar, and the next is Monday, 12 October 2026. Start on a Monday and you're back on Wednesday; start on a Friday and you're back on Sunday. Not every Monday or Friday runs, so check the calendar before you book flights. The 2026 brochure has no February departures.

On an open trip you share the dining table, the sundeck, the tender and the guide with other guests, but never your room. The boat sleeps up to 18 and the cabins sell one by one, so who else is aboard on your date simply depends on who else books.

Pack a board game. The group comes together round the long table, and the karaoke set in the lounge is where it either bonds or votes to sink the boat.

Fixed dates, mostly Mondays and Fridays. Not every Monday or Friday runs.

Departure calendar

What the cabin rate covers, and what it leaves out

Included: pickup from your hotel or the airport in Labuan Bajo, two nights in your cabin, breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, afternoon coffee or tea with a snack, soft drinks, snorkelling gear, two paddleboards, a tour guide, and photos and video shot on GoPro, mirrorless camera and drone.

Not included: flights, hotels in Labuan Bajo, alcohol (you're welcome to bring your own), crew tips, personal spending and Komodo National Park fees. Park entry is IDR 250,000 per person per day for foreign visitors and IDR 50,000 for Indonesians, or IDR 75,000 at weekends. Ranger, pier and snorkel levies come on top, and a drone permit is billed separately too.

If you're planning to dive, the open trip isn't for you. We're a snorkelling boat and carry no tanks.

When the open trip isn't the right fit

For one or two travellers, a cabin is the cheapest way aboard. At around a dozen guests that stops being true. With fourteen of you, the whole boat on a 3D2N works out at IDR 7,860,000 (≈ USD 482) each, against IDR 8,500,000 (≈ USD 521) for a Western room on the open trip, and you pick the dates yourselves.

If your dates aren't on the calendar, a charter is the only way aboard. The same goes for a route longer than the 3D2N, a day trip or a 2D1N: all of those are sold only as charters. Want the boat and the quiet to yourselves? Again, charter. A diving liveaboard is a different kind of boat altogether, so you'll need to look elsewhere for one. Mention it in your first message and the desk will quickly tell you whether anything on our calendar can work.

FAQ

Is the open-trip rate for the whole room or for each person?

Per person, based on two sharing a room. So a Western room for two costs twice IDR 8,500,000 (≈ USD 521). A third person in a Japanese or Western room, or a fourth in a Balinese room, pays the extra-bed rate shown in the table above, which is less than a full place.

Can a family of four share one cabin on the open trip?

Yes, in a Balinese room. It has a double and a single bed, and a fourth person can sleep on an extra bed. Expect portholes and no balcony. Children under 3 travel free with a parent; from 3 they pay the full per-person rate.

Who else will be on board on a shared departure?

Other travellers who've booked cabins for the same date, which means couples, friends and small families. We don't publish passenger lists. Everyone eats at one long table and shares the guide. The boat sleeps up to 18, and the mix on your date depends on who books.

What if I book less than a month before the departure?

Then you pay everything at once. Bookings made within 30 days of sailing are paid in full when we confirm. Further out, you pay a 50 percent deposit and settle the balance 30 days before departure. Message the desk first to check the cabin is still free.

Is there a solo supplement on the open trip?

The rate sheet doesn't show one, so we can't tell you from it whether a solo traveller pays for a single place or for the whole room. Ask the desk for the figure in writing before you pay a deposit, and compare it with the per-person rate of IDR 8,500,000 (≈ USD 521).

What if the boat cannot sail on my open-trip date?

We put you on a comparable or higher-class phinisi for the same dates at no extra cost, with the same cabin category, or refund your payment in full within 14 days if you prefer. A guest who has flown to Labuan Bajo does not go home without a trip.

Can I book a Komodo trip for 2027 already?

Yes. Open-trip departures for 2027 are listed on the calendar on the operator's Monday and Friday pattern, and private charters can be reserved for any 2027 date. The current rate card applies until the operator publishes 2027 rates; if a rate changes before your balance is due, we tell you first and you may cancel without charge.
