Reviews of our Komodo trips: short quotes, traceable sources, no star average

Every quote on this page comes from TripAdvisor, Google or a WhatsApp message that a guest agreed to share. The quotes are short and linked, and any review naming another boat is kept off this site. None of them mentions Vinca by name yet, so read them as evidence about the desk and the park.
Where each review comes from
This page draws on three sources: the public TripAdvisor listing, the public Google listing and WhatsApp messages guests have sent to the desk. Each comes with its own rule.
TripAdvisor and Google quotes are excerpts of forty words or fewer, linked to the original so you can read the rest and check the date. WhatsApp messages are quoted as sent, with a first name and a country if the guest gave one, and only once the guest or the desk owner has confirmed we may share them. We never add surnames. TripAdvisor and Google quotes appear under whatever display name the reviewer chose on that platform.
We don't write reviews, and when we shorten a long one we don't reword it. Nor do we show any review we can't trace back to one of those three places. That last rule costs us material, but it means you can check every line on this page yourself.
What guests wrote
The quotes below rotate, and we don't rank them by stars. The same things come up again and again: lunch on the wooden deck, the crew, a dragon on a ranger-led trail, the sand at Pink Beach, mantas at Manta Point and the sunset at Kalong.
One word of caution as you read. These guests sailed from Labuan Bajo with the company that runs the Vinca desk. A review only appears under a boat's name if the guest wrote that name, and none of the quotes here mentions Vinca. So take them as evidence about the desk and the park. For the boat itself, go by the cabin photos and the equipment list, including the rows marked not fitted.
Said before the deposit: this page can't yet show a guest describing Vinca in their own words. When someone does, in writing and with permission, it'll go here.

What this page leaves out
There's no star average. A rating based on quotes we picked ourselves would measure our taste rather than the trips, so we don't print one.
The public listings also include lower ratings and complaints. We don't copy those here, because we can't sum up a complaint in forty words without taking sides. Read the original listings before you pay a deposit of 50 percent, and read the complaints first. Both listings are linked beside every quote.
We also leave out any review that names a different boat, and anything we can't link to or confirm. Reviews are only one input. The fit check, the equipment list and the cancellation ladder will tell you more about whether Vinca suits you than any quote, and they're written so you can check them.
Sending a review, or asking us to check one
If you've sailed with us, post on TripAdvisor or Google, since that's where we look. If you'd rather send a message, do it on WhatsApp and tell us whether we may quote it, and whether to use your first name and country. If a message doesn't answer that, we don't publish it.
If you doubt any quote on this page, email the desk at [email protected] with the quote and the name shown. We'll either send you the link to the original or take the quote down. Only the author can change a review on TripAdvisor or Google, so we can't delete it there.

FAQ
Are these reviews of Vinca?
Not by name. We only show a review under a boat if the guest wrote that boat's name, and none of the quotes here mentions Vinca. They describe trips with the company that runs the desk. To judge the boat itself, use the cabin photos, the equipment list and the fit check, which spell out what's fitted and what isn't.
Why is there no star rating on this page?
Because an average of quotes we chose ourselves would only measure our choices. The TripAdvisor and Google listings show the real spread of scores, low ones included, and both are linked beside the quotes. Read the complaints there before you pay the 50 percent deposit.
Are the WhatsApp messages real?
Yes. They're messages guests sent to the desk, shown with a first name and, where given, a country. None of them mentions Vinca. We only quote them once the guest or the desk owner has confirmed we may. They have no link, because a private chat has no public address, so we label each one instead.
How do I read the original of a quote?
Every TripAdvisor and Google quote has a link beside it that opens the original listing in a new tab, with the full text and the date. The listing also shows reviews we didn't quote, so do scroll past our excerpt. Excerpts here are 40 words or fewer.
Can I ask you to remove my quote?
Yes. Contact the desk on WhatsApp or at [email protected] with the quote and the name shown, and we'll remove it from this page. Only the author can change a TripAdvisor or Google review on that platform, so we can't delete it there for you.
