Komodo 4 days 3 nights on Vinca: more water, fewer rushed mornings

Updated 10 October 2026

The 4D3N on Vinca takes the classic Kelor, Kalong, Padar, Komodo and Manta Point circuit and adds Gili Lawa, Mawan and a beach dinner at Sebayur, returning on day four between 11:00 and 12:00. It's sold as a whole-boat charter, from IDR 120,000,000 (≈ USD 7,362) to IDR 130,000,000 (≈ USD 7,975).

Days one and two: Kelor, Kalong, Padar, Komodo

We collect you from your hotel or the airport at 09:30. Day one brings snorkelling at Manjarite, a climb on Kelor and sunset at Kalong, where the bats stream out of the mangroves about 15 minutes after the sun goes down. Dinner is on board.

Day two opens with the sunrise climb on Padar. Sunrise is around 06:18 in July and 05:31 in November, and you head ashore about 65 minutes before it. After breakfast there's snorkelling at Long Beach (Pink Beach), then lunch, the Komodo trek with a ranger, a snack and a trek on Gili Lawa, followed by dinner.

Day two is still the long one on this route, but it ends with Gili Lawa and dinner rather than the bats, and every other day is gentler than its 3D2N equivalent.

These stops swap order with tide and wind: Manta Point ⇄ Taka Makassar.

Times are operating patterns, not a timetable. Pickup is the only promise we make by the clock.

Days three and four: mantas, Mawan and dinner on the sand

Day three starts with breakfast, then Manta Point, where the current is strong and mantas are likely but never guaranteed, and then Taka Makassar. After lunch you snorkel at Mawan. Dinner that night is on the beach at Sebayur: a table and umbrellas on the sand, candles, and a warm layer in your bag, because the evening breeze is cooler than you'd think.

Day four is an easy one: breakfast, a last snorkel at Sebayur, lunch and the run back to the harbour, arriving between 11:00 and 12:00. Book flights after 14:00.

Manta Point and Taka Makassar can still swap with the tide, and on a rough day the captain may skip the Manta Point drift and keep the sandbar. It's the current there that sets the schedule, not us. If the stop is dropped, the fare stays the same.

What the extra night adds, stop by stop

Compared with the 3D2N, the extra day brings Gili Lawa, Mawan, a second snorkel at Sebayur and the beach dinner. It also takes out some of the rush: Pimpe is dropped and the Kalong sunset moves to day one, so a sunrise climb is no longer followed by a sunset stop on the same day.

The brochure includes the beach dinner on private trips of 4D3N and longer. On shorter charters it's an add-on from IDR 2,950,000 (≈ USD 181) per couple; here it comes with the fare.

Who gains most? Couples who want a beach dinner without paying for an add-on, families whose children flag by the second afternoon, and snorkellers, who get Mawan and a second go at Sebayur. Who gains least? Anyone with only three days to spare.

Three nights of motion

Four days means three nights on board, and we have no stabilisers. If the sea worries you, sleep on the lower deck: it moves least, although the engine is loudest there. The upper deck moves most.

If you have a nervous stomach, avoid the 4D3N in the roughest months. The wind builds in July and August, and January and February bring the roughest water of the year. If you've never sailed before, three nights is a lot to test yourself on, so try the 3D2N first.

Beyond the general pattern, nothing on this route is fixed. The brochure doesn't name the anchorages; the captain chooses them. Pack a motion tablet for each night and take it with dinner, not once you start feeling unwell.

Price and what's included

The whole boat costs IDR 120,000,000 (≈ USD 7,362) for the smallest guest band, IDR 125,000,000 (≈ USD 7,669) for the middle band and IDR 130,000,000 (≈ USD 7,975) for the largest. Every guest beyond that, up to 18, pays IDR 6,000,000 (≈ USD 368). For ten guests that's IDR 12,500,000 (≈ USD 767) each.

The fare covers pickup, three nights on board, all meals, soft drinks, snorkelling gear, paddleboards and the beach dinner at Sebayur. A tour guide and GoPro, mirrorless and drone documentation are not in the private fare; the desk adds them on request. It doesn't cover flights, hotels, alcohol, crew tips or park fees, which are IDR 250,000 per foreign guest per day and IDR 50,000 per Indonesian guest, plus the ranger fee and other levies.

A deposit of 50 percent holds your date, with the balance due 30 days before you sail.

FAQ

Is the 4D3N available as a shared open trip?

No. The open trip only runs as a 3D2N. The 4D3N is a whole-boat charter from IDR 120,000,000 (≈ USD 7,362), with the beach dinner included in the fare. If you're after a four-day open trip, it's not something the desk can offer.

What is at Gili Lawa and Mawan?

Gili Lawa is a hike on day two, after the Komodo trek, and Mawan is a snorkel stop on day three, after Taka Makassar. The brochure lists both without further detail, so we won't describe them beyond that. Ask the desk what to bring for either, and wear the same sturdy shoes and reef-safe sunscreen as at every other stop.

Does the 4D3N price include the beach dinner?

Yes, on the 4D3N. It's set up on the sand with a table, umbrellas and candles. On the 3D2N and shorter trips, the same dinner is an add-on from IDR 2,950,000 (≈ USD 181) per couple. Evenings are cooler than most guests expect, so pack a warm layer.

How many nights do we sail between anchorages?

Three nights on board, in your own cabin each night. The only overnight leg we have a time for is the 3 to 4 hour run from Kalong to Padar. The brochure doesn't name the anchorages, which the captain chooses according to wind and swell, so we can't name them either.

How does the 4D3N compare in cost per day with the 3D2N?

With ten guests, a 4D3N comes to IDR 12,500,000 (≈ USD 767) each and a 3D2N to IDR 10,500,000 (≈ USD 644) each. The longer trip costs more overall but less per day, and it includes the beach dinner, which the 3D2N doesn't.
